My Talented Child

I'm so lucky I am producing such a talented little guy! I think he has already found his calling...tap dancing! Particularly tap dancing on his mama's bladder. I'm sure it isn't easy but he has found a way to make it happen throughout most of the day.

He is just growing away in there and moving about. I'm now 23 weeks and he weighs over 1 pound. Only about 17 weeks to go! We are having a nice week of working hard and relaxing in the evenings. I have been exhausted lately and spend most of my day thinking about how soon I can go to bed!

I hosted a very fun shower for our friend Janna on Saturday and it turned out great. There were lots of women and babies in attendance. We actually had 4 baby girls all under the age of 7 months! It was tons of fun.

This weekend we are taking it easy and laying low. I'm going to try to entice J to do a little painting too, I'll keep you posted on my progress :-)

22 Weeks

Wow, 22 weeks!!! The time is really flying now and I feel like this little guy is trying to fly out of my belly all day long. I'm not sure what he is doing in there but he is really active. I love sitting on the couch at night and watching my belly move! He's about the size of a papaya although probably a little bigger!

I had my glucose test yesterday to check for gestational diabetes which the Dr. was a little concerned about because that could be one of the reasons he is such a big boy. Thankfully I got the results back today and they were negative so I guess we can't blame his size on sugar!

Nothing much new to report. J and I are both very busy with work and thankful we are still employed. The economy just gets scarier everyday! I keep telling myself that all we can do is work hard and keep plugging away. The rest is really out of our hands.

I'll get some new pics up this weekend, my feet hurt too bad from walking all day to go upstairs and get the camera right now :-)

Cankles

Another week has passed and this baby just keeps on growing. I had to fly to Atlanta on Sunday morning for work and it was a tough trip! It was long and exhausting and by the time I got home on Wed night I had been up for 22 hours and my feet and ankles (cankles as J calls them) were so swollen they looked like this...Yuck! Thankfully they have since gone back to their normal size.

I did find out that this baby loves to fly. The whole time we were in the air he never stopped kicking, although he now rarely ever stops kicking. He is a very active little guy! Sometimes I can actually watch my belly moving! I still love feeling him and I am mesmerized by how strong he is.

We went in for yet another u/s on Thursday to check on my giant baby. Although we have had so many of them I never tire of watching the little guy on the screen. He is measuring exactly 1 week ahead at 22 weeks 3 days and the Dr isn't very concerned. I have to go back in next month for another u/s to check his growth again but it just looks like he is a big, healthy boy. His growth may slow down a bit or I might deliver a 10 pound baby. Only time will tell but for now I am relishing in the fact that he is healthy and beautiful (see pics below). We got lucky and the u/s tech did a few quick 4d u/s pics for us so we could see our little guy up close. In the pics we can see his hair line and really see his features. It is so amazing

We have a quiet 3 day weekend of cleaning and doing things around the house ahead of us. I am hosting a baby shower for my good friend Janna next weekend so I'm thrilled to have the time at home to prepare. For now we are home, safe and sound and relaxing. Below is a belly pic from yesterday at 21 weeks 2 days. Yikes...getting big!

20 Week Belly Pics

I took these myself so please ignore the following...

-The weird look on my face
-The dirty mirror
-The messy bedroom
-Anything else that may seem out of place

It was early in the morning and things around the house weren't quite up to par! I've got a lot of growing to do seeing he only ways 12oz and he will probably weigh at least 8.5lbs when born! I've got a linebacker in there :-)

The BIG and the beautiful!

We're halfway there!! I can't believe we will meet this little (or not so little) guy so soon. I know the next 41/2 months are going to fly by. We have a busy schedule coming up which is going to make the time pass even quicker, not to mention all of the things we need to do to our house before his arrival.

We had our 20 week u/s on Tuesday and he was so active. He was moving his little arms and legs all over the place. We confirmed that we are having a little boy and then the u/s tech took all of his measurements and everything looks good...he has 10 fingers & 10 toes. The only thing of concern was how BIG he is. Right now he is measuring about 1 week ahead and he is in the 98 percentile! The Dr. isn't quite sure why he is so big so I have to go in for another u/s next week to confirm the measurements. She doesn't seem too concerned about it but she wants double check and make sure he is just a big baby and there are no other issues. He weighs about 12oz and normal for 20 weeks is about 9 or 10 oz. Looks like I am just going to have a large baby. Anything over 8lbs makes me nervous. We'll just have to wait and see.

In the past week he has really picked up his activity level and he constantly moving around and kicking me. I love to feel the movement. It's so fun to feel his acrobats in my belly!

Here's a pic of our big guy from the u/s. Notice his big belly!
This week he is as big as a cantaloupe, or in our case a little bigger. I'll post a new belly pic tomorrow when I get it taken. My belly is getting bigger everyday and there is no denying that I'm pregnant. It's impossible to hide now! With such a big baby I'm wondering how big I'm actually going to get. I have a long way to go! For now here's a pic of J and I on New Years Eve. Hope everyone had a great New Years! Cheers to an exciting '09!
